The GS605AV is one of Neigear&#8217;s &#8220;green&#8221; products (meaning the ports adjust- power draw based on cable length and presence), but the stand out feature is the color-coded port priorities.Instead of sending users into esoteric menus to decipher application priorities,dark green, port 5, receives top priority(&lt;10 ms latency and jitter, according to Netgear), port 4 assures &lt;100 ins latency,on down to the yellow port 1. which Net gear recommends for &#8220;background&#8221; needs.<br />
We ran a series of load tests to see if Netgcar&#8217;s QoS coding pays off in the real world.</p>
<p><span id="more-364"></span></p>
<p>We connected our Gigabit routerto the switch&#8217;s port 4 and a Gigabit NASbox into port 2, leaving the top, middle,and lowest ports free. With only copyinga 1.7GB test file from the NAS to ourGigabit-enabled notebook client, we mea-sured roughly 38MBps transfers regard-less of which port-1, 3, or 5—we used.In the absence of competing traffic, Net-gear treats all ports equally.<br />
Then we added a 101100 enabled notebook pulling a 1080p video through the switch via the Gigabit router. With our G He notebook in port 5 (high estQoS) and the 1080p video streaming G S605AV S49.99 through port 3, our I .7GB file transferjumped to 42.52■413ps, apparently per-forming faster in port 5 with competingtraffic than without it.<br />
Stepping up the load further with a480p Nears stream through port 3 toour Xbox 360, our Gigabit notebook pulled 37.5MBps from port 5 and32.5MBps from port 1. During the setests, our 10/100 notebook continued streaming 1080p video through poi is I and 5, respectively.<br />
The GS605AV&#8217;s prioritization scheme  clearly works. We observed a 10MBpsdifference between the highest and low-est ports under load, and different load scenarios should reveal similar benefits in latency reduction. For its simplicity,effectiveness, and reasonable price, were commend the GS605AV for growing home LANs.</p>

<p>We had Sparkle GeForce GTX 480and GTX 470 cards on hand, but with the GTX 480, we had to crush the top-mount-ed 6- and 8-pin graphics power wiring toscrew the drive cage hack in. With the GTX 470, we applied far less pressure. in every other way, the SX58J3 met or surpassed our expectations.</p>

<p>We weren&#8217;t surprised to only find a smattering of 0C profiles and relatively little tweaking mp ability in such a small system, although default profile lifted our CPU multiplier from 25Xto 26X. Shuttle makes amends with twin Marvell 8057 Gigabit controllers, an eSATA power connector on the back panel, an 80Plus Bronze-certified 500W PSU, and most welcome ofall-Mini-TTX compatibility tin future motherboard upgrades.<br />

The top of the case has four lISB2.0 ports, microphone and headphone jacks, and cSATA and SATA ports, witha spring-loaded, clear plastic cover thatkeeps the dust out. It also has four fanswitches, so you can quickly and easilyenable or disable fans in various partsof the case. The hard drive bay easily slides in and out.and mounting hard drives or optical drives is a tool-less cinch.<br />
A great product always has extra details that make it that much better than a cheaper version.</p>
<p><span id="more-344"></span></p>
<p>For example,the Arvin a has a tiny toolbox tucked away in the corner of the case that contains a small screwdriver, all the screws, extra pieces of &#8216;this and that, and a fingerprint cloth. Additionally, the case has a pair of fanspositioned abovethe expansion slots to keep your graphicscard(s) cool, and it&#8217;sconnected with ahinge so you canswing the fans out ofyour way when work-ing inside the case.</p>
<p>There are a fewparts of this case thatare cumbersome.Removing the sidepanels required a bitof elbow grease, and the springloadedODD front covers didn&#8217;t seem to work properly. Mounting the PSU was more awkward than I wouldhave liked, requiring more effort than usual to align the the PSU&#8217;s screw thread swith the corresponding holes on the case. Other wise, this case is nearly perfect</p>

As a lightweightportable pad, it won&#8217;t be a burden to storeit in your backpack, either.</p>

We can overlook Antec going lighton cable management features. The only real design flaw with the DF-85 is its workaround for the front-mounted I JSB3.0 port. Because there&#8217;s no standard yet for on-motherboard USB 3.0 head-ers, Antec opted to let users route the<br />

Each 60GB bank runs under a Sand Force SF-1200 controller, and both joined together as a RAID 0 yield a 111 GB volume. You could accomplish this with apair of Sand Force-based SSDs and Windows based RAID, hut, pricing aside, this route would put more load on the CPU.<br />
Unlike some other PCI-F.-based SSDproducts, the RevoDrive is bootable,making it an excellent alternative to adual-drive boor volume.</p>
<p>We tested withpre-release Silicon Image drivers, but finaldrivers should he available for download bythe time you read this.<br />

To gercloser to the real-world results you&#8217;ll experi-ence, we removed the VRM heatsink andbenchmarkcd the card to see if the stabilitywould be adversely affected. it was not. <p>Palit&#8217;s ka-tures an open heatsink shroud, so much ofthe card&#8217;s heat will be recirculated through-out the interior of your case. As stated above, this shouldn&#8217;t be too much ofaproblem for a well-ventilated case. Palit&#8217;s GTX 460 features the same pair of  TIN ports but thankfully drops themini I IDMI port in favor of a full-sized version. This card&#8217;s backplane also includesa VGA port.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ll need your own HDMTcable, though, because Palit bundled a sin-gle 6-pin PCI- P. power connector and nothing else. In the tests, as you might imagine, theGTX 460 Sonic Platinum trounced theRadeon 58,30 by the widest margin;and these are dgerences you&#8217;ll notice ineveryday gaming. but to he Fair, this cardis more expensive than ATE&#8217;s by a similarmargin. This card also bloodied the restof GTX 460s. flyou want one of thefastest GTX 460s available. then this cardis your best option.</p>
